The Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert Voice (CCIE Voice)

The Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert Voice (CCIE Voice) certification, the highest level of Certification in Cisco VOIP Domain, validates expert-level knowledge of Voice-over-IP (VoIP) solutions in an enterprise environment. All CCIE Voice certified experts provide voice solutions for the enterprise and include subjects such as Quality of Service, MGCP, Call Manager (Cisco's VoIP PBX), Cisco Unity Connection (Cisco's Voice Messaging platform), Unity Express, Unified Contact Center Express and Cisco Unified Presence Server, Cisco's HWIC-4ESW and the 3750-24PS.


Objectives of CCIE Voice

To build and configure complex end-to-end telephony networks, troubleshoot and resolve VoIP-related problems and ensure quality of service using in-depth understanding of Layer 2 and 3 network infrastructures.


Prerequisites

  • The candidates must first pass a written qualification exam and then the corresponding hands-on lab exam
  • Candidates are expected to have an in-depth knowledge on the blueprint
  • Candidates are strongly encouraged to have three to five years of job experience before attempting CCIE Voice certification

  • Implement and Troubleshoot Cisco Unified Presence

Examination

Completion of the CCIE Voice curriculum requires the candidates to pass the following exams:


  • CCIE Voice Exam-350-030
    This is a two-hour examination and contains 100 multiple choice questions covering those technologies and applications that comprise a Cisco Enterprise VoIP solution.
  • Lab Exam
    Configuring a network to given specifications
    The CCIE lab exam is an eight-hour, hands-on exam which requires you to configure a Cisco enterprise voice solution over an IP network. The candidate should configure the pre-installed applications to satisfy the requirements of the lab, and to troubleshoot important parameters of a voice network, such as quality of service, VLANs, gateways and gatekeepers.

Recertification

The CCIE Voice certifications are valid for two years. The certificate can be renewed by passing any one of the following exams before the validity expires:


  • Any current CCIE Written Exam OR CCIE Lab Exam or
  • The current CCDE Written Exam OR current CCDE Practical Exam, or
  • The Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications

If the candidates do not pass the qualifying exam, they will be placed in suspended status and their employers will be notified. They will be given one year to pass the required exam after which the CCIE certification becomes permanently inactive.
